Trane with Kane!!!!

For those of you who don't follow or play racquetball, Kane Waselenchuk, is the premier racquetball player in the world, and was at 68 Sports this past Thursday and at the Overland Park facility this weekend .  His credentials read somthing like this:

  • Finished the 2009-2010 season ranked #1 on the International Racquetball Tour.  He went undefeated for the entire season, which is the first time anyone has ever done that.
  • Has been ranked #1 by the IRT five times.
  • Has won six US Open Racquetball Championships, pro racquetball's most prestigious event, which is more than any other player.
  • Has not lost a match in over 110 games.  Yup...undeafeted.

I was lucky enough, as a sponser, to be able to play one game to 11 with him.  Let me first say, he's one of the nicest pro athletes you'd ever meet.  He always made eye contact, gave you tips on your game, and he took it easy on everyone he played.

This is Kane at 68 Sports warming up.

It was a great time and there was a great turn out.  We were proud to be a part of the clinic, and are looking forward to him coming back next year.  Oh, in case you were wondering, I was hoping to score one point....ya' it didn't happen.  He smoked me 11-0.  I've never in my life seen anyone hit the ball like he does.  A few more interesting facts about our boy Kane...

  • He started playing racquetball 27 years ago.....he's currently 29 years old.  Yes, that means he started when he was 2.
  • He can hit the ball 185mph!!!  Baseball's hardest pitch is about 105 and hockey hardest slap shot is about 110....so you can image what it must feel like to be standing next to that.
  • He's Canadian, lives in Texas, and my 12 year old daughter think he's "really really good looking".  So I have to look forward to.
